Grown here, not bought in
Every bag of grain we sell was planted, weeded and harvested by the farm team at Plot 12 Sherwood. Growing our own maize is what lets us stand behind the grain that goes to the mill.
Maize grown on our own lands in Sherwood and stored on the farm, plus the Sbali / Chitsano roller meal we supply. What comes back from milling goes straight into the feed troughs.
Maize is the backbone of the cropping side of the farm. It goes out to the mill, it feeds the herd, and whatever is surplus is sold as grain. We plant with the rains, keep the lands clean, and store the crop on site so nothing sits out in the weather.

Manure from the piggery and poultry houses goes back onto the lands, and we rotate maize with our horticulture blocks rather than planting the same thing in the same place season after season.
Maize is the main grain crop, and the lands are worked around it — prepared early, planted with the season, then cleared and turned again for the next cycle. Grain is kept in the farm store where we can watch it, rather than sold green off the field.
Ploughed and worked down before the rains, so that when the season opens we are planting instead of still preparing ground.
Grain and feed stocks kept dry, stacked and under cover on the farm. Storing it ourselves means there is always grain ready to go to the mill, and feed for the herd between harvests.
The grain lands and the horticulture blocks work as one system — tomatoes, onions, cabbage and beans in one season, grain in the next, manure moving between them.
The same team prepares the lands, brings the crop into the store and sends the grain out to be milled.
Clearing, ploughing and working the lands down before the season opens. Manure from the livestock houses is spread while the ground is still open.
Planted with the rains, then kept clean through the growing period — weeding, walking the rows and watching the crop as it comes up.
The crop comes off the lands and straight into the farm store, stacked under cover and dry so that it holds its condition until it is needed.
Farm maize goes out to the mill and comes back as roller meal. The bran and meal left over are bagged as stock feed for our own animals and for the store.
Sbali / Chitsano is our sister brand. It mills and packs Super Roller Meal in Bulawayo, and Ecomatt supplies it alongside our own farm produce — so a family can buy the meal from the same people they buy their vegetables and pork from.
Collected at the farm in Sherwood or arranged through our distribution side. Household quantities and bulk orders are both taken — tell us how much you need and we will quote you on the day.
Add the meal to a quote list in the shop together with the rest of your order, or send us the quantity and we will come back with a price and a collection time.
Milling does not end with the meal. The bran and milling meal that come back from the mill go into the feed troughs here on the farm and are sold through the farm supply store to other growers around Kwekwe.
Milling by-products are part of the ration in the piggery and the poultry houses. Feed that starts with our own grain is feed we can account for, which is why the herd stays in the condition you see in the pens.
Bran and milling meal are bagged and sold at the farm supply store alongside our stock feed, chicks, seedlings and manure. Quantities depend on what the mill has produced that week, so it is worth calling ahead.

We post the season as it happens — ploughing, planting, harvest and the grain going into store.
Grain, Sbali / Chitsano roller meal and milling by-products are all priced on the day. Call the farm, WhatsApp the sales line, or build a quote list in the store and we will come back to you. We are open Monday to Friday 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM and Saturday 6:00 AM – 5:00 PM.
